Late night opening at RIBA for three new exhibitions

Join us for special evening celebrating the opening of three new exhibitions and installations at the RIBA. Hear bitesize lectures by architects, designers, artists and researchers followed by gallery tours and music. All events are free and a cash bar will be open all evening. Sandra Youkhana and Luke Caspar Pearson, You+Pea

Sandra Youkhana and Luke Caspar Pearson run architectural design studio You+Pea. They have established the Videogame Urbanism studio at the Bartlett School of Architecture, where they promote the use of game technologies in education. You+Pea’s work explores the integration of video-game technologies, exploring how games can engage new participants in the design of cities. You+Pea’s exhibition Playing the Picturesque is on view in the Architecture Gallery until 7 September.
·        Kristian Volsing, V&A
Kristian Volsing is a Project Curator at the V&A, currently part of the team redeveloping the V&A’s Museum of Childhood, prior to which he was Research Curator of Videogames: Design/Play/Disrupt. Interested in design and digital, pop culture and fashion, previous projects include the exhibition ‘All of This Belongs to You’, and the ‘Rapid Response Collecting’ gallery and collection.
·        Edward Crooks and Tom Parsons, etcetera studio
etcetera studio is the collaborative practice of architect Tom Parsons and artist Edward Crooks, producing built and theoretical work across various scales. The studio thrives off a drive to realise high quality work with specialist craftspeople, responding to the unique places, people and material processes. etcetera’s interpretation of Lutyens, Above and Beyond, is open in the RIBA First Floor Gallery until 6 July.
·        India Whiteley, RIBA
India Whiteley is an art historian trained the Courtauld Institute, currently pursuing a Masters degree at Birkbeck in Museum Cultures. At the RIBA, India works closely with curators and the Library team on ‘Revealing the Collections’, a multi-stranded project exploring the RIBA’s unparalleled archive of four million objects relating to architectural culture.
·        Charles Holland, Charles Holland Architects
Charles Holland Architects is an international architecture and design studio, the work of which includes buildings, exhibitions, public art and urban design as well as teaching and research. Charles is also Professor of Architecture at the University of Brighton, a columnist for the RIBA Journal and former founding member of FAT.

Exhibitions & installations at 66 Portland Place

Playing the Picturesque Playing the Picturesque is an interactive installation exploring the boundaries between virtual and physical space. Open until 7 September in the Architecture Gallery
 
Above and Beyond Taking the Cenotaph as a visual reference, this installation by Etcetera Studio goes above and beyond the First Floor Gallery. Open until 6 July in the First Floor Gallery
 
Walk the Line: The Distributed Vertical Border Developed by Mexico City-based curatorial platform Proyector, this exhibition focuses on the seven cities that initiate the distributed border through Mexico, exploring how the movement of migrants affects the environment of the territory they navigate. Open until 6 July in the Practice Space
