Remembering the Ladies of the Ladies Bridge: London History Day

This event has finished Took place on: Friday, 31st May 2019

Join us for various activities to celebrate the women who built nearby Waterloo Bridge with poster making, dressing up, a pop up exhibition and a walk to the nearby bridge.

Today we explore why these bridge builders and 24,000 other female construction workers have been written out of history and aim to put them back into London’s history.

The British Library of Political and Economic Science (@LSELibrary) was founded in 1896, a year after the London School of Economics and Political Science. It has been based in the Lionel Robbins Building since 1978 and houses many world class collections, including The Women's Library.

Part of the Women's Library, LSE Women at Work season to mark the passing of the Sex Disqualification Act in 1919.  Follow the debate on Twitter at #LSEWomenWork and @theladiesbridge.
