In conversation with Miranda France, acclaimed travel writer Monisha Rajesh discusses her wonderfully vivid account of her 45,000 mile journey circumnavigating the globe along the world's most remarkable railways. Witty and irreverent, Around the World in 80 Trains celebrates the glory of train travel while aptly reflecting on what it means to be a global citizen. Part of our ongoing event series in partnership with the Bloomsbury Institute.

Author and journalist Monisha Rajesh has written for Conde Nast Traveller, The Independent, The Sunday Telegraph, The Guardian and The New York Times. Her first book was Around India in 80 Trains.

Miranda France is a writer and translator. The author of two highly acclaimed travel books, Bad Times in Buenos Aires and Don Quixote's Delusions, she has won the Shiva Naipaul Memorial Prize and was shortlisted for the Thomas Cook Travel Book Award. She has translated Argentine writers including Alberto Manguel, Claudia Piñeiro and Liliana Heker and published two novels, That Summer at Hill Farm and The Day Before the Fire. She is a member of The London Library.
