Searching for the Lost Tombs of Egypt

This event has finished Took place on: Monday, 18th Feb 2019

 £15

Where are the tombs of Alexander the Great or Cleopatra? Both rulers were buried in Egypt, but their tombs have never been found despite years of intensive research and excavation.

Author Chris Naunton describes the quest for these and other great ‘missing’ tombs – those we know existed, but which have not yet been identified – and discusses key moments of discovery that have yielded astonishing finds.
Naunton explains the mysteries of the missing tombs and presents evidence unraveling the tangled threads surrounding the burials of the pharaoh Akhenaten and his son Tutankhamun, and the burial place of Imhotep, architect of the Step Pyramid at Saqqara.

Dr Chris Naunton is a distinguished Egyptologist, and has presented numerous television documentaries, including The Man Who Discovered Egypt (BBC4), Tutankhamun: The Mystery of the Burnt Mummy (Channel 4) and King Tut’s Tomb: The Hidden Chamber (Channel 5). He was the Director of the Egypt Exploration Society from 2012 to 2016, and in 2015 was elected President of the International Association of Egyptologists.

This lecture includes a complimentary drink and will be followed by a book signing after the talk.
