Ashurbanipal assembled a unique and visionary library of cuneiform texts at his palace, arguably the first library of all knowledge to be assembled in the world.

In this special lecture, Irving Finkel, British Museum, gives an overview of how the library would have functioned, with reference to a few highlight texts from the Museum's collection.
