This talk looks at the work of ten soldiers with camera who took photographs on various fronts during the First World War.
These collections are now all held by the Imperial War Museum. With photography having become a popular pastime by 1914 many men heading off to war took a camera to record their military service. The talk covers the way in which images taken by these amateur photographers made it into the newspapers, the attitude of the authorities to the soldier photographer and how this work sits alongside the output professional official photographers.
