Dr Robert Saunders (Queen Mary) talks about his new book which explores Britain’s first national referendum on whether the UK should remain in the European Community. There will be an opportunity to purchase signed copies of the book after the talk.
Andy Beckett of The Guardian said of the book:
Saunders writes with swagger ... he demolishes many of the myths about Britain's relationship with the rest of Europe on which Brexiters and Remainers have long depended.
Dr Robert Saunders is Senior Lecturer in Modern British History at Queen Mary, University of London, specialising in British politics and the European Union.
Dr Jennifer Jackson-Preece is an Associate Professor of Nationalism, with a joint appointment in both the European Institute and the Department of International Relations, LSE.
The British Library of Political and Economic Science was founded in 1896, a year after the London School of Economics and Political Science. It has been based in the Lionel Robbins Building since 1978 and houses many world class collections, including The Women's Library.
