Give your views on how we can help Londoners clean up our air

Nine out of ten Londoners have described the Capital’s air pollution as at ‘crisis’ levels. Despite ten years of low-emissions zones, London remains the UK centre of these problems with evidence that its residents continue to breathe air that exceeds global guidelines, contributing to nearly 10,000 Londoners dying prematurely each year.

The capital, home to an unprecedented concentration of world renowned higher education institutions and a growing start-up technology and innovation culture, surely has the expertise and new ideas to bring about change. And yet record levels of air pollutions persist.

During the Government’s first ever Green GB Week and forming part of Imperial College London's Greenovate Imperial Lates evening celebation of green tech, the Grantham Institute at Imperial invites you to an open discussion on how we might better utilise and combine the passion for change amongst Londoners, with innovative thinking from its academic institutions, to clean up the air we breathe.

The discussion will feature a panel of:

Karen Buck – MP for Westminster North who sits upon the All Party Parliamentary Group on Air Pollution
Dr Audre de Nazelle, Lecturer in Air Pollution Management, Imperial College London
Michael Kasimatis, Chief Operating Officer, BlakBear
Andrea Lee, Senior Campaigner at Client Earth

Join them to discuss ways to unlock the potential of innovative thinking and technology to tackle these issues? Ask if the Capital's universities doing all they can to help the millions of Londoners wanting to bring about change? And debate what role academic leaders, government and local authorities can play in facilitating a collaborative, innovative approach that utilises the knowledge and technological power here in London to tackle the issues that most concern the city’s residents?
