This year marks the 70th birthday of the NHS. To celebrate, The King's Fund Information and Knowledge Service has created a walking tour of Marylebone to explore the history of health care before and after the establishment of the NHS.
This free tour will take you to the heart of ‘pill island’ and introduce you to some of its many medical residents. Visit the house of 'nurse number one', learn who was 'King of the Quacks' and visit the site of Florence Nightingale's first post as we explore the growth of medical and allied health professions from the 18th century to present day.
Cost: Free of Charge
