Engineering Open House Day aims to help young people and their parents understand what it’s like to work as an engineer by giving behind-the-scenes access to a wide variety of organisations to demonstrate how creative and innovative these careers can be. Last year we welcomed over 3,000 young people and their families to events across the UK and we want to make this year even bigger and better.
Join us at IET London: Savoy Place for a variety of engineering activities for young people and their parents including hands on activities, interactive exhibits, robotics demonstrations, coding activities and more.
The IET’s Education team will be running torch making activities and FIRST® LEGO® League robotics competition demo tables.
Other activities will include a pit stop challenge with Greenpower, coding with the Micro:bit Foundation, robotics demonstrations from Robot Wars’ Glitterbomb team, reaction testing with F1 in Schools, meeting Techno Mum and learning about binary code with Fun Kids Radio and a showcase of activities from University College London’s Engineering department.
There will also be the opportunity to tour the Savoy Place building for a look around the amazing, global engineering and technology hub, as well as taking a behind the scenes look at the audio visual aspects.
Drop in at any point throughout the day - the event is free but registration is essential.

Engineering Open House Day is part of the IET’s Engineer a Better World campaign which focuses on encouraging young people and their parents to nurture their curiosity and think differently about careers in engineering.
