A guided walk looking at the trees of Dulwich Park in partnership with the Dulwich Society and Southwark Council

Dulwich Park is a remnant of the ancient Dulwich Common, once part of the Great North Wood. Before becoming a park in 1890 it was farmland close to where the River Effra, one of London's most well known lost rivers, flowed. Though the park is nearing 130 years of age, it has trees which are much older.

There are a number of old boundary oak trees which mark former parcels of farmland and common land. We will be looking closely at these trees, talking about their significance to us today as relicts of London's natural and cultural heritage.

Dulwich Park is host to a great variety of trees and we will attempt to identify and discover the stories of as many of the species as we can. This event is being organised as part of the Great North Wood project.

Signed up yet for #30DaysWild? We're inviting people to do something wild every day throughout June.

When you sign up, you’ll receive our pack of wild goodies, plus lots of ideas from London Wildlife Trust to inspire you. But you don’t just have to do what we tell you: why not make up your own Random Acts of Wildness?

So what are you waiting for? Go wild!
