This illustrated presentation by Dr Duncan Sutherland will mark the sixtieth anniversary of women’s admission to the House of Lords by examining coats of arms granted to notable women peers and MPs. It will explore the significance and meaning of these arms, using heraldry to offer an engaging look at the careers and contributions of such women as the first life peers, ministers and some of the country's best-known political figures, and women who achieved distinction in various fields before entering Parliament.
