Most of us are familiar with at least some of the matter in the Universe. It’s called baryonic matter. It’s the stuff we are made of and it’s the stuff the world around us is made of. It’s also the stuff that stars and galaxies are made of. It’s the stuff we can see. But we now know there is more matter in the Universe than just this type of matter that we can see — much more. In this talk Dr Tommi Tenkanen will describe this mysterious dark matter, that actually accounts for around 85% of all the matter in the Universe. Although we know it is there, we don’t know what it is. The hunt is on to find the ghostly particles — if indeed that’s what they are — that make up the hidden cosmos.
