Greece Out of Crisis? building a competitive economy

As attention turns to Greece’s economic path after the conclusion of its third ‘bailout’, the event will discuss the strategy and priorities it should follow to sustain its recovery. The panel platforms the voice of business: what do entrepreneurs want to see from government?

Dr Vassili G. Apostolopoulos is the CEO of the Athens Medical Group, a leading health care services group in Greece and Southeastern Europe. Vassili is the President of the Hellenic Entrepreneurs Association (EENE), member of the General Council of the Hellenic Federation of Industries (SEV member of the Greek Medical Tourism Council (ELITOUR) and member of the Board of Greece – Qatar Business Council.

Nikos Drandakis is founder and CEO of Beat, a leading mobile taxi application, which allows users to choose and hail their taxi driver electronically, without phone call. On February 2017 Taxibeat was acquired by MyTaxi, a Daimler AG subsidiary. It was rebranded under “Beat” and is continuing its expansion in Latin America.

Michael Tsamaz is Chairman and CEO of OTE Group, the largest telecommunications provider in Greece and SE Europe, since November 2010, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom AG. Michael Tsamaz is also Chairman of the Board of Telekom Romania Communications S.A. He is a MoB of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV) since July 2016 and heads the Digital Economy Committee since November 2016.

Professor Kevin Featherstone is Head of the European Institute and Eleftherios Venizelos Professor of Contemporary Greek Studies and Professor of European Politics at the LSE

The Hellenic Observatory (@HO_LSE)  is internationally recognised as one of the premier research centres on contemporary Greece and Cyprus. It engages in a range of activities, including developing and supporting academic and policy-related research; organisation of conferences, seminars and workshops; academic exchange through visiting fellowships and internships; as well as teaching at the graduate level through LSE's European Institute.

The Hellenic Bankers Association-UK was founded in 1994 to promote a closer co-operation among bankers and financial professionals of Hellenic origin based in the United Kingdom. It is the most important networking platform for Greeks working in Europe’s financial capital and play a pivotal role as gateway between London’s financial centre and the Greek political, economic, and business community. Its goal is to improve the Greek economy as well as boost entrepreneurship.
