#MeToo in business journalism

This event has finished Took place on: Thursday, 10th May 2018

 £10.67

The #MeToo movement is having an impact on most sectors – and the built environment is no exception.

Until recently, stories like The FT's Presidents Club Dinner scoop were parts of the industry that went unreported. After decades of maintaining the status quo, how should publications adapt their coverage so that previously normalised cultures such as sexism, are not allowed to persist? This evening will bring together leaders in the field to discuss how journalism must balance the championing of industry causes with scrutiny.

Speakers include:

– Aime Williams, the FT's property correspondent who led the coverage of the fallout from the President’s Club Dinner in the property industry.

– Tom Fitzpatrick, editor of award winning Construction News which has launched a campaign, ‘Inspire Me’, to get more women into construction.

– Emma Maier, editor-in-chief of multi-award winning magazine Inside Housing, Emma has led diversity campaigns and investigations over the gender pay gap in the housing sector.

Chair: Nick Duxbury, content director at Redwood and chair of IBP Futures Group.

Registration will be at 6.00pm for a 6.30pm start.
