Historic Stone Carving - A Talk by Tim Crawley

Historic Stone Carving - A Talk by Tim Crawley

This event has finished Took place on: Thursday, 10th May 2018

As part of London Craft Week 2018, Southwark Cathedral and City & Guilds London School of Art invite you to find about the great tradition of architectural stone carving. Discuss this craft that goes back millennia, and the place it has in today’s world for contemporary and historic buildings, where there is tremendous potential for figurative, foliate or abstract ornamentation.

Tim Crawley is a stone carver, sculptor and designer who has worked on many of England’s most famous stone buildings. He is experienced in realising large-scale architectural stone carving projects, from the design stage, which generally involves the production of drawings and models, through to the carving process and finally to installation.

Tim is Head of Historic Carving at City & Guilds of London Art School which offers the UK's only Diplomas and Post Graduate Diplomas in Stone Carving and Woodcarving.
