Bedwyr Williams & Chris Fite-Wassilak in Conversation

Hear artist Bedwyr Williams discuss the inspiration behind his featured large-scale video work, with writer and critic Chris Fite-Wassilak.

Using this as a starting point, the pair will use the evening to explore how we can imagine social and political behaviour in the future and the place of humour in contemporary art.

Conversations from the Future is a talks programme that accompanies the exhibition Adapt to Survive: Notes from the Future at HENI Project Space, Hayward Gallery.

Bedwyr Williams is visual artist using multimedia, text and performance to explore themes of dystopia and mankind’s significance in the universe. Often doing so through a satirical lens, his work addresses what he calls ‘the friction between the deadly serious and the banal aspects of modern life’.

Williams’ large-scale video work Tyrrau Mawr (2016), which first premiered as part of Artes Mundi Prize in Cardiff, features as part of the exhibition Adapt to Survive: Notes from the Future. He was shortlisted for the Film London Jarman Award 2015 and represented Wales at the 55th Venice Biennale.
