Open day at the Kilmorey Mausoleum

This event has finished Took place on: Sunday, 29th Apr 2018

 £2

Celebrate the arrival of Spring by enjoying a rare Open Day at Kilmorey Mausoleum, one of Richmond's most historic yet lesser known buildings.

Ian has visited - review here.

The Egyptian-style mausoleum stands just off St Margarets Road behind a brick wall and a wooden gateway. It was build in 1854 by Lord Kilmorey for his young mistress, Priscilla Hoste. It is now a grade II* listed property and only occasionally open to the public.

One Egyptologist has described it as 'the best preserved Egyptian Revival mausoleum in the UK and one of the finest example of its kind in the world'.

Also open to the public on the Open Day will be an award-winning wildlife garden which surrounds the mausoleum.

Admission to the Open Day is free of charge and the site can be found roughly opposite the Ailsa Tavern on St Margarets Road.
