Antony Clayton’s talk will explore the myriad tunnels carved under the former Borough of Holborn, from some of the earliest tube tunnels and the ‘ghost’ station of British Museum, to Second World War tunnels and modern bunkers.
Some of the folklore of so-called ‘secret tunnels’ in the area will also be explored. Antony Clayton is the author of Subterranean City: Beneath the Streets of London (2010), The Folklore of London (2007) and Secret Tunnels of England: Folklore & Fact (2015).
Free to members. Non-members welcome (£1 at the door).
