Created in 1912, the East London suffragettes organised a militant mass movement to campaign for the right to vote.
Kate Connelly, biographer of Sylvia Pankhurst, uncovers the stories of working-class women who fought for the vote, and how they outwitted the police and galvanised a community into radical, political action. The walk begins at 6pm at the exit of Mile End underground station.
We'll end in the Lord Morpeth pub (with interesting suffragette connections) where the discussion can continue.
