​Explore the development of design during the austerity of WWII and post-war Britain. In 1941 utility clothing was introduced and in 1943 the Utility Furniture Advisory Committee published the Utility Furniture Catalogue. These responses to shortages of raw materials met practical needs but also inspired and influenced new design ideas.
