Art Deco in Upper Street: Islington Town Hall

This event has finished Took place on: Sunday, 26th Nov 2017

Take an expert tour of Islington Town Hall and see some stunning original art deco style interiors and staircases, as well as the impressive council chamber in our 50 minute tour. Original clocks, paintings and decorative panels have survived for nearly a century in this lovely municipal building. Learn about the history and ambitions of the combined boroughs of Islington and Finsbury in the twentieth century. Islington Town Hall was designed in stages by the impressive social housing architect E.C.P. Monson. It incorporated an Assembly Hall, in the fashion of interwar town halls, and it remains a remarkably attractive landmark on Upper Street, a venue for weddings, council meetings and a thriving entertainment centre.

Cost: £6.50
