Preview tours in the Flight Shed and Aircraft Factory will be a major attraction of the Aviation Day at Brooklands Museum, which will also feature helicopter and light-aircraft fly-ins, historic aircraft engine runs and a one-woman show on the life of famous British aviatrix Amy Johnson.
The preview tours of the new exhibitions that are due to open in early November will begin in the Flight Shed which houses a Harrier and the Museum's live aircraft, including a Hawker Hurricane currently under restoration. Although some of the displays will still be under construction, visitors will then be taken across the bridge onto the mezzanine floor of the new Aircraft Factory exhibition in the restored and relocated Bellman Hangar.
Live action on the day includes visiting helicopters and light aircraft arriving* on the airstrip at Mercedes-Benz World opposite the Museum entrance, where visitors will be able to inspect them and chat to the pilots. At 12 noon and again at 14:15 on the Museum site itself, the newly restored Finishing Straight of the original Race Track will be put to full use as selected Brooklands aircraft give engine demonstrations.
