From Workhouse to the Whittington: Hidden Archway

This event has finished Took place on: Sunday, 1st Oct 2017

Investigate the old and the new Upper Holloway, now known as Archway. Its high ground and fresh air made it popular for workhouses and orphanages in the nineteenth century, replacing medieval estates,. The new suburb of Whitehall Park together with the engineering marvel of Archway Bridge made the area distinct from Highgate . Bomb destruction and slum clearance brought new estates and open spaces along St John's Way. This walk explores all these features and more! Walk ends at Archway tube station.

Cost: £6
