A talk about London's vital stock of woodland and urban trees.
Sydenham Hill Wood Conservation Project Officer Daniel Greenwood will be giving an illustrative talk at Dulwich Library about the trees of the local area and their importance to both people and wildlife.
London's trees are threatened as never before by a combination of inappropriate development, disease, public sector funding cuts and the impacts of climate change.
Dulwich is home to some of London's oldest woodland in the form of the Dulwich Woods complex, the largest remnant of the Great North Wood. Parks like Dulwich and Belair are also home to some of London's oldest oak trees.
The talk will focus on native trees like oak, hornbeam, ash and hazel, their importance to local people through the centuries and the vital role for London's wildlife in the present day.
The issues facing local street trees and those in open spaces will also be covered.
