Join us for a series of talks led by Southwark cathedral historian Guy Rowston in which we will uncover the stories of Southwark and the cathedral at its heart.
Week two will uncover Tudor and Stuart Southwark. Starting with the impact of the dissolution of the priory, we will discover monumental masons and stained glass painters in the renamed church. We will learn about the Essex Rebellion, the Marian Martyrs and the rise of the theatres. The founding of Guy’s Hospital and the South Sea Bubble will be explored. The talk will end with the demolition threat to the church.
