The cat: moving from the savannah to the home

This event has finished Took place on: Wednesday, 9th Nov 2016

 Free

In most animal groups, posture changes depending on the size of the animal, but not in cats. An evolutionary oddity that has long puzzled researchers.

Join scientists from UCL and the Grant Museum of Zoology for a very special event with scientists from the Royal Veterinary College as we take you (via video link) behind the scenes and into the anatomy room to witness a live dissection of a cheetah to reveal the remarkable anatomical features of this incredible cat and how it compares with its feline relations.

Over the course of the event hear from Team Cat scientists about their comprehensive work on the anatomy of felids over the last three years and the innovative techniques they’ve used to investigate the evolution of cat locomotion.
