IWM In Conversation With: Robert Hutton

Imperial War Museum

Description

Join author and journalist Robert Hutton in conversation with Sonia Purnell, author of A Woman of No Importance, as they discuss Robert's newest book, The Illusionists: The True Story of the Man Who Fooled Hitler.

Take the opportunity to hear Robert Hutton discussing his new book, The Illusionists, in the impressive surroundings of IWM London.

Robert will reveal the incredible story of Colonel Dudley Clarke's 'A Force', a team of artists, forgers and a magician who devised 'Operation Bertram', an ingenious campaign of deception used to hoodwink German General Erwin Rommel at the Battle of El Alamein.

Robert will also explore the creation of the SAS and the Commandos who, alongside men like Dudley Clarke, helped defeat Rommel in the North African desert.

Enjoy refreshments served at the bar, join the conversation, have your questions answered, get your copy of the book signed, and enjoy access to IWM London's Second World War Galleries after-hours.
