I might have no idea what I’m talking about but surely driverless trains would require an entirely new type of signalling and an entirely new type of tube train. It seems expensive and time consuming enough acquiring the normal, human controlled type of both of those. And Boris had 6 years where he was mayor and the Tories had the government and still didn’t manage it?
Don’t worry John Major announced driverless tube train way back in 1990 it’s default Tories fall back on when they are not up to the job !
Anyway trains will still be staffed just like on the DLR so it’s just headlines for their people and anyway remove drivers and what next staffless signalling!
I think you’ll find that the Northern line is already egineered for this & probably the Jubillee.
This has been done to death by London Reconnections. It ain’t happening any time soon, due to the age and complexity of the Tube. Just a bit of red meat to ill informed Tory Voters.The Telegraph headline couldnt even get the correct Drivers union.
Thank you — I just read their most recent post on it. It put me at ease that it’s never going to happen but also made me oddly disappointed that it’s never going to happen.
If you’re refurbishing the underground is there gonna be really good air-conditioning service on the underground because any time I go on the underground it’s very hot in the summer time It gets very stuffy as well on the train not enough of air-conditioning in the summer time all the air-conditioning does it blow out hot air and not cold and can you please fix the problem many thanks
