The annual tradition of filling a street in Rotherhithe with Nordic delights later this month won’t be happening, but the Finnish Church will still be opening its Christmas food shop.

The church will be filled with Finnish food and gifts: Rye bread, carelian pies, chocolate, sweets, Moomin products and much more.

The Finnish Church’s Christmas shop will be open Wed 18th to Sat 21st Nov, and Wed 25th to Sun 29th Nov.

Entry is 2pm-8pm Wed-Fri, and noon to 6pm at weekends. The Finnish Church is just around the corner from Rotherhithe station on the London Overground.

You need to book a free timed ticket to visit from here.

In related news, at the moment at least, the Swedish Church in Marylebone is having an outdoor fair along Harcourt Street on Sat-Sun 21st and 22nd Nov from noon to 6pm.

Swedish food and handicrafts for sale. Gingerbread, delicatessen, glass ware, home made glögg, textiles, food & sweets, candles & Christmas cards. Homebaked cakes & sandwiches for take away.

SUPPORT THIS WEBSITE

This website has been running now for over a decade, and while advertising revenue contributes to funding the website, it doesn't cover the costs. That is why I have set up a facility with DonorBox where you can contribute to the costs of the website and time invested in writing and research for the news articles.

It's very similar to the way The Guardian and many smaller websites are now seeking to generate an income in the face of rising costs and declining advertising.

Whether it's a one-off donation or a regular giver, every additional support goes a long way to covering the running costs of this website, and keeping you regularly topped up doses of Londony news and facts.

If you like what you read on here, then please support the website here.

    Hello
For many many years I and my friends have visited the fairs of your countries in Rotherhide and now I wonder if with the
new lockdown, you will still be opening the churches and fairs on the dates in November 2020. It is for me and my friends the highlight of the Christmas season each year.
    Thank you for your reply
