The festivities are starting to feel like the warning from the Ghost of Christmas Future, but the Old Vic theatre will still perform A Christmas Carol this year. Performed as a live stage show, but broadcast online via Zoom, this year the role of Ebenezer Scrooge is being performed by Andrew Lincoln, of This Life and later fame.
Although broadcast online, this will still be a full-scale show with live musicians, theatrical lighting, set, costumes, and a cast of 18 performers. In total, 80 freelance creatives, actors and musicians will be employed to create this year’s production.
The online live screenings run from 12th to 24th December.
For everyone else, prices start from £10 for previews. Tickets can be booked here from Monday 9th November.
The theatre is asking people to pay what they normally would for this performance at the theatre to help replace box office income. Everyone will get the same view regardless of which ticket they buy.
There will also be an £80 Souvenir Ticket that includes a limited edition souvenir poster.
Every single performance will be live captioned and audio described. There will be an option of turning on captioning or audio description in Zoom as needed.
