Although we’re told that the public transport network shuts-down on Christmas Day, a handful of tube trains do in fact run on the 25th December.
Just not particularly convenient ones.
They’re the late night trains that’ll be carrying the Christmas Eve revelers and late finishing workers home, and many will make their final call long after Santa has started his present delivery run around the UK.
Most of London Underground’s last tube trains will run on Sunday times, and there will be progressively longer gaps between trains from around 3pm onwards.
Double-checking the TfL travel planner and a selection of the tube trains running on Christmas Day are:
Bakerloo line – 00:01 at Elephant and Castle, or 00:26am at Harrow & Wealdstone.
Central line – 00:27am at West Ruislip or 00:21am at Epping.
Circle line – 00:17am at Aldgate or 00:45 at Hammersmith
District line – 00:10am at South Kensington, or 00:37am at Ealing Broadway
Hammersmith & City line – 00:38am at Baker Street, or 00:56am at Barking
Jubilee line – 00:22am at Stanmore
Metropolitan line – 00:58am at Uxbridge, or 00:32 at Wembley Park
Northern line – 00:05am at East Finchley or 00:18am at Morden
Piccadilly line – 00:30am at Acton Town, or 00:56am at Cockfosters
Victoria line – 00:02am at Brixton or 00:23 at Walthamstow Central
Buses also run even later than the tubes.

Well at least Londoners will be happy about seeing tube trains running on Christmas Day. But not so fortunate for the tube drivers and staff who will be working on Christmas Day. Even on Christmas Day night aswell.
Andrew….there are just a few trains running over from Christmas Eve night…not Christmas. Plus with all the strokes and vast wages they get I wouldn’t have pity anyway.

London underground train should run on Christmas Day and new year day and the London bus all should run on Christmas Day and new year day
Are they not allowed to spend time with their families like you on Christmas day?
The Tube used to open on Christmas Day but they stopped in 1980 because there weren’t enough passengers to make it worthwhile. I seem to remember there were a few buses until the late 1990s but once again they stopped because there weren’t enough passengers.

I love how you defend drivers who get min £50k a year but not nurses and police where starting pay is £23k.
“They don’t have a right to spend Xmas with families?” Is a great question. Luckily, we’re in London and not Vatican – there are Christians who don’t care that much, and there are many other faiths (and atheist) who simply don’t care.
Different jobs pay different salaries. I think that we should be trying to elevate nurses and police officer salaries rather than undermine public transport workers’ jobs and salaries just because you regard these jobs as low status.
On the Tube a day starts at 4am, which is when a One Day Travelcard officially expires so as far as we’re concerned that’s still Christmas Eve.
“Some tube trains will run on Christmas Day” good old misleading headline there. The last trains from a standard day (24th) run over into the early hours of the next (25th). Doesn’t really count does it?
Fun fact: In Japan, some businesses that are open across midnight and into the early hours or some TV shows in the early hours use hours over 24 as it’s a continuation of the previous day. So something happening at 01:30 on Tuesday would be written as 25:30 Monday.
