People using the footbridge across Liverpool Street station may have to duck under a humpback whale, if an art project can raise the necessary funding.
An art group, Acrylicize have secured permission from Network Rail to install a life-size 14-meter Humpback whale that will breach over the walkway of the mainline railway station.
As commuters pass beneath, the materiality of the whale will be revealed: sustainable materials, all serving as eco-friendly substitutes to plastics. The aim of the project is to raise awareness of the devastation caused by the vast amount plastic waste in our oceans, and highlight the alternative choices the average person can make to fight the issue and make a difference.
The project is still seeking funding, and they’re looking for sponsors, both corporate and individuals looking to highlight the alternative choices the average person can make to fight the issue and make a difference.
If you’re the sort of deep pocketed local firm who could support this initiative, then drop an email to amber@acrylicize.com

Probably tall people would need to duck underneath the whale but children can easily go under it without having to duck underneath it. But it does look very good. Going to take a trip to Liverpool Street to see it before it disappears. Or will it stay for long time.
