While Sir David Attenborough is on the telly, there is also a chance to hear his mellifluous tones in person, as he gives a public lecture next month.

The inaugural Sainsbury Wellcome Centre for Neural Circuits and Behaviour (SWC) Lecture will focus on the issue of aesthetic sensation in birds and will be delivered by Sir David Attenborough. This will be a chance to hear his own, first-hand account of behaviour of birds in the wild.

The lecture itself takes place on Wed 7th December at 12 noon.

There are limited public tickets available. Due to anticipated demand they are operating a ballot system.

You need to register for the ballot by 11pm on Thur 1st December – register here

Successful ticket winners will be notified on Monday 5 December. Only successful people will be notified.

The SWC Lecture seeks to engage not only academic peers but more importantly the wider public.

SUPPORT THIS WEBSITE

This website has been running now for over a decade, and while advertising revenue contributes to funding the website, it doesn't cover the costs. That is why I have set up a facility with DonorBox where you can contribute to the costs of the website and time invested in writing and research for the news articles.

It's very similar to the way The Guardian and many smaller websites are now seeking to generate an income in the face of rising costs and declining advertising.

Whether it's a one-off donation or a regular giver, every additional support goes a long way to covering the running costs of this website, and keeping you regularly topped up doses of Londony news and facts.

If you like what you read on here, then please support the website here.

Thank you
