The former Olympic Stadium is selling off parts of the London 2012 racing track, as souvenirs.

On the off-chance that you didn’t pick up enough London 2012 goodies when the Olympics were in town, now there’s a chance to buy a small chunk of the 100m racing track.

The sporting memorabilia was mainly taken from the 100m straight when the track was removed as part of the stadium transformation works. It has now been polished up, put in a display case and given a label.

Proceeds from the sale of the track will go back into maintaining and operating the London Marathon Community Track and the London Stadium. Sections of the track are also being gifted to local schools, London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Gold medalists and other partners.

Unsurprisingly, there is a limited amount of track available, with products starting from £60.

SUPPORT THIS WEBSITE

This website has been running now for over a decade, and while advertising revenue contributes to funding the website, it doesn't cover the costs. That is why I have set up a facility with DonorBox where you can contribute to the costs of the website and time invested in writing and research for the news articles.

It's very similar to the way The Guardian and many smaller websites are now seeking to generate an income in the face of rising costs and declining advertising.

Whether it's a one-off donation or a regular giver, every additional support goes a long way to covering the running costs of this website, and keeping you regularly topped up doses of Londony news and facts.

If you like what you read on here, then please support the website here.

Thank you
