Two of London’s most magical old buildings, Dennis Severs’ House and 19 Princelet Street are having a short run of joint openings.

Although Dennis Severs’ House is often open the public, 19 Princelet Street is very rarely open.

Tours of Princelet Street take place later this month, but are usually packed — so a joint tour of the two buildings, for smaller groups is happening on a few days this month.

In addition the magical interior of Dennis Severs’ House, you get a chance to enjoy the semi-derelict 19 Princelet Street with a bit more elbow room to see around.

Starting with a visit to Dennis Severs’ House, you wander in silence through the house’s ten rooms, each lit by fire and candlelight. After a short stroll through Spitalfields, you will be guided around 19 Princelet Street, an extraordinary building which commemorates the waves of migration to Spitalfields over the centuries, and which hides a secret in its garden.

As 19 Princelet Street prepares for a major fundraising and development campaign, this is a rare opportunity to explore the building that has been described as “one of the most charismatic, moving, beautiful places in all London.”

Tours cost £25 and take place at noon and 1pm on the 7th, 11th, 14th, 18th, 21st, and 25th June.

SUPPORT THIS WEBSITE

This website has been running now for just over a decade, and while advertising revenue contributes to funding the website, but doesn't cover the costs. That is why I have set up a facility with DonorBox where you can contribute to the costs of the website and time invested in writing and research for the news articles.

It's very similar to the way The Guardian and many smaller websites are now seeking to generate an income in the face of rising costs and declining advertising.

Whether its a one-off donation or a regular giver, every additional support goes a long way to covering the running costs of this website, and keeping you regularly topped up doses of Londony news and facts.

If you like what your read on here, then please support the website here.
