Combine steam train travel and tea and cake on the Metropolitan line for a late summer treat.
The Transport Museum will be running a restored steam train along the Met Line, and offering classic afternoon tea at a tea room at Watford Tube station on the weekend of 12 and 13 September 2015.
A live gramophone will be playing while the kettle boils to recreate the atmosphere of a bygone era of suburban London. Victoria sponge cake served on ornate crockery will be waiting for steam day-trippers who have purchased a special Tea and Steam event ticket.
The steam train will be pulled by steam locomotives Met No.1, which was used during the 150th anniversary celebrations of London Underground, and L150 on a journey to or from Watford Tube station.
Three trips are being offered:
- Harrow-on-the-Hill to Watford via Chesham
- A return journey to Watford via Chesham
