Twenty-years ago a tube station closed to passenger traffic, and apart from the occasional film crew or tours is largely off-limits to the general public.
Next January, the public will be let back into Aldwych tube station for guided tours led by the Transport Museum.
Tours will take in the ticket hall, abandoned platform tunnels, and inter-connecting walkways – including some that have very rarely been seen by the public.
Tours will run from 22nd January through to 15th February.
Tickets will go on general sale from Monday 27th October, and will cost £25. Adults only — no children under the age of 16 on the tour this time.
Access to the platform is by staircase only, there is no working lift in operation. 160 steps connect the ticket hall level to the platform level – there is no step-free access.
