Tower Bridge has announced that it will be running its Engineering Tours again in the New Year, which is coincidentally also when the bridge has to deal with the fewest openings that can disrupt such tours.

The tours are basically a behind-the-scenes chance to see parts of the bridge that are not usually seen by the general public.

For the tours include going into the vast hidden chambers under the road where the counterweights swing when the bridge opens. Tours during the summer when the bridge opens regularly being therefore rather harder to arrange!

The tours also include the Bridge Control Room and the Machinery Room, which houses the hydraulics that power the lifting of the Bridge today.

Each tour is limited to 12 people and costs £29 per person including Tower Bridge Guide Book. Individual tickets can be purchased.

The tours will take place in January and March (not Feb) between 4pm to 6pm.

Places are limited — book by 020 7407 9191 or [email protected] to check dates.

  1. Many thanks for adding this information for us.

Just to add a slight correction – tours will take place each Saturday and Sunday in January and March (1 tour per day). They will not be available during the week, nor during the entire month of February.
