A quick note if you are the sort of person to do these sorts of things, but there is a chance to abseil down the side of the new 17-story high Royal London Hospital building in Whitechapel later this month.

As is usual with these things, it’s a charity fund raiser, and the choice of building for the event is most apt as the charity in question is the big red helicopter on the roof of the building you might end up climbing down.

To enter simply fill out the registration form, pay the £35 fee — then you need to raise £300 at a minimum.

Also note that only 50% of your total sponsorship amount has to be collected by the Abseil date, you will have up to 6 weeks after your abseil to collect the rest of your sponsorship amount.

The Air Ambulance is a rather worthy charity, and are also in the process of expanding south of the river, with a plans for a helicopter platform on the roof of King’s College Hospital in Denmark Hill. At the moment, they land in the nearby park and run up the hill.

SUPPORT THIS WEBSITE

This website has been running now for just over a decade, and while advertising revenue contributes to funding the website, but doesn't cover the costs. That is why I have set up a facility with DonorBox where you can contribute to the costs of the website and time invested in writing and research for the news articles.

It's very similar to the way The Guardian and many smaller websites are now seeking to generate an income in the face of rising costs and declining advertising.

Whether its a one-off donation or a regular giver, every additional support goes a long way to covering the running costs of this website, and keeping you regularly topped up doses of Londony news and facts.

If you like what your read on here, then please support the website here.

Thank you
