The Transport Museum’s two working vintage trains are to be out on the network next month and will be offering rides between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Amersham, along with the Museum’s iconic Routemaster RM1, making journeys between Amersham town centre and train station.
Both the restored 1938 era tube train will be running as will the Sarah Siddons electric locomotive, which will pull heritage carriages behind it.
Train tickets also include free entry to the Amersham Museum.
The train trips take place on Sunday 9th September.
There are a number of trips on the 1938 train:
- 10:40 Harrow-on-the-Hill to Amersham
- 11:38 Amersham to Amersham via Harrow-on-the-Hill
- 13:12 Amersham to Amersham via Harrow-on-the-Hill
- 14:38 Amersham to Amersham via Harrow-on-the-Hill
- 15:53 Amersham to Harrow-on-the-Hill
The first and last trips are £10 in advance (£15 on the day) and the three longer return trips are £15 in advance (£20 on the day).

Sarah Siddons is running two trips and you can catch the train at any station along the route. Trips start from 10am and last until 5:20pm and will regularly shuttle between Harrow-on-the-Hill to Amersham with a short gap at lunchtime.
All Sarah Siddons journey are £5 per adult.

Thanks for making me feel really old. I looked at the picture and had a warm glow of recognition. Those strap hangers were requistioned as coshes during the war. Apparently.
