A steam locomotive will be running a charter trip into London this lunchtime and will come in from the South-West, and run in a loop around North London down to Euston Station.

Although steam trains do tend to run from London quite regularly, they tend to leave at 8am, so a chance to watch one go past at a more convenient hour is rare.

Worth a short detour if you are out shopping, especially if with the kids.

The locomotive in question is the Battle of Britain class No. 34067 Tangmere – originally built in Sept 1947.

The train enters London via Hounslow at around 12:26pm, then runs up to Willesden (12:56pm) and arrives at Euston Station at 1:04pm (on Platform 18).

The train is removed from Euston and taken to sidings about half an hour later.

The train then leaves London this evening along the exact same route – leaving Euston at 4:54pm and passing Hounslow at 5:40pm.

The route so you can find a suitable place to watch it pass is on the Google map below.

This website has been running now for just over a decade, and while advertising revenue contributes to funding the website, but doesn't cover the costs. That is why I have set up a facility with DonorBox where you can contribute to the costs of the website and time invested in writing and research for the news articles.

It's very similar to the way The Guardian and many smaller websites are now seeking to generate an income in the face of rising costs and declining advertising.

Whether its a one-off donation or a regular giver, every additional support goes a long way to covering the running costs of this website, and keeping you regularly topped up doses of Londony news and facts.

If you like what your read on here, then please support the website here.

Thank you
