A voice reading out Shakespearean quotations while a modern video projection plays on a medieval building that Shakespeare would have known — a perfect London event.
For two nights, Guildhall Yard in the City of London is host to the video projection which plays out on the 15th-century facade of the Guildhall. Repeating loops offer an easy listening run through of the bard’s more famous quotations.
Yes, there’s a dagger, a horse, a skull, a balcony, a wandering wood, all the accoutrements of an English Literature exam. 3D video effects on the stony wall, a dagger floating in the air, the skull looming over a large audience in the yard. Lots of old prints from the Metropolitan Archives.
Twenty minutes of visual and aural delight, then a mass rush for the Art Gallery, which is open late.
The whole thing is part of the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare which carries on for the rest of this year.
It repeats this evening, from 6:45pm to 8:45pm. Every 20 minutes. And its free.
It was quite good. http://jenikya.com/blog/2016/03/shakespeare-lumiere-guildhall.html
