The Settle-Carlisle Railway has confirmed that they expect to be doing walking tours across the famous Ribblehead Viaduct on Sunday July 22nd while the railway is closed for repairs.

300px-ribblehead.jpgAn original idea to take a train trip on the Saturday is not viable as I forgot that the trainline is closed then as well.

So, either we go up to Leeds or Settle on the Saturday and wait for the walk on Sunday – or possibly, stay until Monday when the train line reopens and then do the touristy trip up to Carlisle.
At this time, the railway has only confirmed that the walk will occur and that tickets will need to be brought in advance.

This is quite a rare chance to walk over the viaduct – and I will send out details to the mailing list once full details are available, and we can plot an agenda.

This website has been running now for over a decade, and while advertising revenue contributes to funding the website, it doesn't cover the costs. That is why I have set up a facility with DonorBox where you can contribute to the costs of the website and time invested in writing and research for the news articles.

It's very similar to the way The Guardian and many smaller websites are now seeking to generate an income in the face of rising costs and declining advertising.

Whether it's a one-off donation or a regular giver, every additional support goes a long way to covering the running costs of this website, and keeping you regularly topped up doses of Londony news and facts.
