Transport for London has just made one of the most insane decisions known to mankind. Even by their standards, this takes some beating.

Checking the weekend engineering works email I get every Wednesday, I spy something which makes me worry. I check the email again – then check another website for confirmation.

Yes – this weekend, they are closing the tube lines which run to Acton Town station from the center of London.

So What? – you may quite reasonably think, they close stations and lines every weekend.

Well, dear reader – this weekend is the annual open days at the London Transport Museum’s main storage depot – which happens to be just over the road from, you guessed it – Acton Town station.

The very weekend that the station should be packed to the rafters full of train geeks – they choose to shut down most of the line.

Not a clever idea.

This website has been running now for over a decade, and while advertising revenue contributes to funding the website, it doesn't cover the costs. That is why I have set up a facility with DonorBox where you can contribute to the costs of the website and time invested in writing and research for the news articles.

It's very similar to the way The Guardian and many smaller websites are now seeking to generate an income in the face of rising costs and declining advertising.

Whether it's a one-off donation or a regular giver, every additional support goes a long way to covering the running costs of this website, and keeping you regularly topped up doses of Londony news and facts.

If you like what you read on here, then please support the website here.

Thank you
