The 13th annual Sculpture in the City
The thirtieth annual Sculpture in the City has landed in the City of London, with 10 new artworks and seven now semi-permanent artworks on display dotted around the Square Mile.
However, one of the 17 artworks arrives later in the year, and three couldn’t be found, so as an annual trail, it seems to be having a bad year and shrinking year on year.
Sadly, that means whereas you used to be able to wander around the city cluster and see art quite regularly along the route, this year, there are a lot of empty gaps between the art, and it is made more so by how much of the trail is the same as previous years.
There is a map next to each artwork and a brief, and at times, incomprehensible, description of the art (I am looking at Caucus in particular).
Maybe they’re just having an off year, but in the past, I’ve usually enjoyed wandering the streets seeking out the artworks, but this year, it felt more like a task to complete than a pleasure.
The art trail will be in place until next April.

SUPPORT THIS WEBSITE
This website has been running now for over a decade, and while advertising revenue contributes to funding the website, it doesn't cover the costs. That is why I have set up a facility with DonorBox where you can contribute to the costs of the website and time invested in writing and research for the news articles.
It's very similar to the way The Guardian and many smaller websites are now seeking to generate an income in the face of rising costs and declining advertising.
Whether it's a one-off donation or a regular giver, every additional support goes a long way to covering the running costs of this website, and keeping you regularly topped up doses of Londony news and facts.
