Latest news about Elephant & Castle station station
TfL is inviting construction companies to apply for work on the upgrade of the Elephant & Castle tube station, which will involve a new station entrance for the Northern line, with provision for the Bakerloo line in the future.
TfL has agreed to a deal that will see a brand new entrance built for the Elephant and Castle station, but it will remain an empty concrete box until TfL is able to afford to complete it.
As part of the redevelopment of the Elephant & Castle, the tube station also needs to be rebuilt, but following discussions with London Underground, changes are being proposed.
Southwark Council says that it has agreed an additional £7.5million to its existing contribution for a new entrance and ticket hall to the Northern Line underground station to be delivered as part of the shopping centre redevelopment at Elephant and Castle.
