An ice-cold tube train has been designed that appears to run on the Northern Line. Sadly (or excitingly?) it is an icy work of art carved as part of the annual Ice Hotel art event in Sweden and not a new concept to cool the tube.

To mark the 150th anniversary of the London Underground, British film director Marcus Dillistone built his”Mind the Gap” Art Suite depicting a Tube platform in ice, although it turns out that the anniversary is a sheer fluke as the artist wasn’t aware of that when he came up with the concept.
He has also arranged for the construction of the icy tube train to be filmed, so hopefully, we should see some timelapse footage of the ice carving at some point.
The annual Ice Hotel opened last week and a London Underground tube station built entirely from snow and ice, can now be found 200 km north of the Arctic Circle.
Now that it’s been completed, you can spend the night sleeping in a tube carriage, and that’s not an offer you get often at the end of the Northern Line after a drunken night out. Although at -5ºC, you’ll need the insulated sleeping bags they provide.
I wonder what Zone that is on the travelcard?
And, yes he does have permission to use the tube roundel.
