See a replica steam train inside Victoria station
For a few days only, a replica steam train will be in the middle of Victoria station as part of a promotional event for the local area.
The London Heritage Quarter, a collection of local business groups, put it there to remind people in an area dominated by heritage that there is some heritage to look at.
They’re keen for you take a seat in the leather chair and have a photo taken to share with your friends, although other than that and looking at a train in a train station I did struggle to understand how this is supposed to encourage people to visit the local heritage.
Anyway, it’s a bit of fun, and doubtless, it will make for a good background for many photos and maybe raise a smile as well.
The North Pole Express will be in Victoria station until Sunday 15th December, and Father Christmas will also be there each day from 12pm to 4pm.
SUPPORT THIS WEBSITE
This website has been running now for over a decade, and while advertising revenue contributes to funding the website, it doesn't cover the costs. That is why I have set up a facility with DonorBox where you can contribute to the costs of the website and time invested in writing and research for the news articles.
It's very similar to the way The Guardian and many smaller websites are now seeking to generate an income in the face of rising costs and declining advertising.
Whether it's a one-off donation or a regular giver, every additional support goes a long way to covering the running costs of this website, and keeping you regularly topped up doses of Londony news and facts.
If you like what you read on here, then please support the website here.
