A few months ago, a large office window in Old Street gained a large model railway. It’s sort of based on the local area, but is more of an atmospheric representation than an exact replica, so no need to complain about the wrong trains/buses/whatever.

Sadly I can’t tell you more, as my enquiry to the apparent office occupiers, an office fit-out company did not get a reply.

So here are just some contextless photos of something lovely to look at.

The model can be found at 5-23 Old Street, next to the junction with Goswell Road and Clerkenwell Road.

SUPPORT THIS WEBSITE

This website has been running now for over a decade, and while advertising revenue contributes to funding the website, it doesn't cover the costs. That is why I have set up a facility with DonorBox where you can contribute to the costs of the website and time invested in writing and research for the news articles.

It's very similar to the way The Guardian and many smaller websites are now seeking to generate an income in the face of rising costs and declining advertising.

Whether it's a one-off donation or a regular giver, every additional support goes a long way to covering the running costs of this website, and keeping you regularly topped up doses of Londony news and facts.

If you like what you read on here, then please support the website here.

Thank you

Hi. Do the trains actually run?! And the road traffic?

What a brilliant use of a window. Hopefully it’s to high for the very small children to press their noses against the window and leave sticky handprints on the glass (bah humbug). Great idea though whoever got it in there.

    Hi Ian,

I work at Thirdway – the workplace fit-out company that created this. This installation is at Thirdway HQ and is a bespoke creation of all of our best and most memorable projects around London. Enjoyable for us and passers by! You can read more about it here, on our website – https://thirdway.com/article/choochoo-installation

    P.s the trains do run!
